A Soulful Celebration of Life in Africa
My recent journey to Africa with Savannah Society was nothing short of a dream come true. Five years ago, at the beginning of my healing journey, I dreamt of an incredible celebration trip – one that would honor five years cancer-free. I vividly envisioned dancing under the vast, star-filled African sky, my boys looking on with joy. That dream became a breathtaking reality.
From the moment we arrived in Zimbabwe, it felt like Africa had been waiting for us. The iconic red skies were even more stunning than I remembered them from our honeymoon, and the wildlife encounters were beyond anything we could’ve imagined – very intimate and incredibly thrilling!
Our guides, Julian at Camp Chitubu, and Adam at Camp Inzila, were extraordinary. Their passion, knowledge and reverence for the land, brought the wild to life in such a personal and powerful way. They offered us a window into nature at its most authentic and beautiful, always with a deep respect for the bush environment.
Both camps were exceptional in their own unique ways – from the nurturing food to the attentive staff who made us feel completely cared for. Every detail, every moment, felt intentional and full of heart.
Our stay in Botswana added yet another layer of richness and meaning to the journey. From peaceful safaris by boat to the kindness, bright smiles and soulful dancing of the eco lodge ladies - who sent us off with a local goodbye song that moved me to tears. Their joy and spirit touched my heart in a way I will never forget.
I fell in love with the whole Safari experience – the “Out of Africa” style tent, the early morning game drives, the thrill of the bucket shower, the fireside conversations and the delicious meals shared in open air (thank you Morris!).
Due to the incredible attention to detail by the team members of Savannah Society, this was more than a trip. It was a milestone, a manifestation and soul-deep celebration of life, health and family. I will carry this experience in my heart forever.
